Aux Fed Sub w/ DRPA

08/22/2007

Hello......
I was thinking about setting up my system using an my aux fed sub option on my GL2400. I've done it in the past with a conventional system and it seemed to clean things up a bit. I was wondering if this technique was useful with the DRPA. If I set it up in dual-mono, can I run the tops off the L High Out and the bottoms off the R Low out??? BTW, the quick overview of my system is as follows.....

Allen&Heath GL2400
DRPA
Crown IT4000 w/ 2 JBL SRX 725's
Crown IT6000 w/ 2 JBL SRX 718's

Both my DRPA units are a couple of years old and do not have tunings for my I-Tech's nor my other pair of MRX 515's. Is it possible to update them???

Thanx Guys. Sorry for the inane questions. You all are always extremely helpful

I'll assume that you use the 2nd DRPA for another application (monitors , 2nd sytem, etc).

Yes, the DRPA is updateable. Is it worth it? Well, you can download the latest Driveware and get all the info that is offered to there. But are that you will get is info that will be superceded by your own gain structure set-up findings. The x-over info will be helpful, but can be obtained from the Driveware. So I'd pass on paying for the update.

Here's the problm with the DRPA and Aux subs (or a monitor mix) in the Right channel while the mains are in the Left channel. Can it be done, yes, but.....
Graphic EQ can be separated. (good)
Feedback X is usable, although combined L&R. (not too bad)
X-over can't be used as a filter because it will filter both sides the same, though probably not needed. (not too bad)
PEQ's can be used, but assuming using the high outs, you have 3 filters that now must be split among the entire output combo (mains & subs). (not too bad)
Limiters can be used, but if one input (main or sub) needs limiting, they both are limited and eccentially become a whole system compressor. (bad)

Now if the other DRPA is available.....
Better yet, get a 260. It will.

Thank U soooooo much 4 all the info brotha!!!!! This system belongs 2 a band I joined recently, and had I built the system, I would have opted for the 260 as well. I guess my last quesion would be, if I can get the software going on a laptop for the I-Techs, would I be better off???

Thanx Again ;-)

Unfortunately, that's beyond my knowledge. I have never used the I-Techs. There may be some control in them to help you. You should try posting to the new forum. This one is not viewed by many.

Just went and looked at the I-Techs of the Crown site. Yes, you can set up the DRPA to run the mains in stereo (if you wish) and have full function control and aux your subs to an I-Tech and set up your high and low filters, etc in the DSPs.

Yes totally do-able and recommended... The I-techs have some powerful DSP in them as well...
